Forest Lake

In the Suburbs of Indianapolis

Forest Lake is a privately owned lake near the city of Avon in Hendricks County, Indiana. This lake is a small, residential lake with only around 14 homes sitting on its shore.

Residents can easily travel to and from Indianapolis due to its short, 15-mile distance from Forest Lake. This makes Forest Lake the perfect spot to escape the busy city, commute, or enjoy life in the suburbs.

Due to this lake’s smaller size, motorized boats are not allowed here. But, fear not, anglers can still fish from the shore and catch a variety of fish including pumpkinseed, largemouth bass, rainbow trout, perch, bullhead, and bream/bluegill.

The Washington Township Park is within walking distance of Forest Lake.

Sitting across the street is the beautiful, 160-acre park with plenty of open green space for picnics and preserved wooded areas for basking in the shade. The Park has four covered picnic facilities, a 24-foot gazebo, two playgrounds, a sand volleyball court, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, an outdoor fitness station, Pavilion Center, indoor wedding/event venue, two stocked fishing ponds, an outdoor amphitheater, a splash pad, a dog park, five-plus miles of trails, and the historic 1876 Whipple Iron Truss Bridge. So, there is no other park you would rather have in your backyard.

A little bit farther up the road is Avon Town Hall Park. This park has plenty to offer as well. With playgrounds, paved trails, picnic tables, an 18-hole disc golf course, ping pong tables, bocce court, and the only free, public outdoor radio control race track in Hendricks County. Avon Town Hall Park is the perfect complement to Washington Township Park.
